Regina Designs is a contracted sewing business that was developed with the dual purpose of (1) earning income that would be used to cover a portion of the costs associated with the Project Regina Training Program; and (2) provide training and home-based employment/income for Project Regina trainees and graduates. CAPI has developed a number of commercial piecework sewing projects with small businesses (e.g. sewing 400 specially designed winter caps), and coordinates all aspects of their projects including bidding, outsourcing work to contractors, and in some instances providing shipping services directly to outlets. Project Regina Training Program students are paid a subsidized wage while working on projects, and some Project Regina graduates are paid on a piecework basis. |
