CAPI Food Shelves Need You!
CAPI is currently in need of food donations for our food shelf program! We serve an average of 1,800 low income individuals each month, nearly 350 families. The vast majority of our food shelf clients are women and children (women comprise 85% of the participants), and we also serve approximately 140 seniors every year and 30 disabled immigrants. Our program includes one Asian and one East African Food Shelf. We accept any non-perishable food items such as canned goods and noodles. At this time, our food shelves are in desperate need of the following items:
Asian Food Shelf:
Rice
Stick Noodles
Dragon Noodles
Bamboo Shoot
East African Food Shelf:
Flour
Sugar
Cooking Oil
Spaghetti
Potatoes
Cleaning/Basic Hygiene Needed at Both Food Shelves:
Paper towels
Toilet paper
Detergent
Dish soap
Clorox
Shampoo
Soap/body wash
Toothpaste/toothbrush
Lotion
Sanitary napkins
New or Gently Used School Supplies Needed at Both Food Shelves:
Backpacks
Notebooks
Folders
Notebook paper
Pens
Pencils
Crayons
Markers
Colored Pencils
Scissors
Donations can be dropped off at CAPI’s office (
3702 East Lake Street) between 8:30 am and 5 pm. Any donation made to CAPI can be tax deductible; when you drop off your donation we will print a thank you letter for your records. We also accept gift cards and certificates from Cub Foods, Target, and Rainbow.
