COLLABORATORS

Over the past several years, CAPI has forged many new and exciting partnerships and collaborations to stretch limited resources, strengthen our capacity and meet the multi-faceted needs of immigrants and refugees from around the world. As a mutual assistance association, we’ve worked hard to serve all immigrants and refugees rather than focus on one particular cultural community. CAPI heads into 2008 with many excellent formal partnerships including:

As a member of the Emergency Food Shelf Network, we are able to secure donated and low priced food for our Asian specific Food Shelf. Membership with EFN also qualifies us for in-kind and cash support from Hunger Solutions, the Greater Minneapolis Council of Churches and Second Harvest.

CAPI is lead agency in a 3 agency consortium to deliver Refugee Employment Services to almost 500 unemployed refugees (who have been in the U.S. for 5 or fewer years). Collaborating employment service providers include Goodwill Easter Seals of Minnesota and Somali Family Services.

CAPI partners with Elder Care Partners to serve Hmong adults who are caring for their parents, while also managing their own families

CAPI participates in a 3-agency consortium with the International Institute and Habitat for Humanity to provide comprehensive and complimentary case management refugee resettlement services to 60+ refugees annually

CAPI collaborates with the Minneapolis Public Schools’ Adult Basic Education (ABE) to provide in-kind ELL instructional services to CAPI’s Project Regina Training Program.

CAPI provides ELL instructional services to North Minneapolis Hmong refugees at Franklin Middle School

CAPI is involved in a 5-agency consortium to deliver school navigation services to limited English-speaking immigrant and refugee parents who have historically not been involved in their children’s education. The consortium is led by Pillsbury United Communities and also includes the Oromo Community of Minnesota, Minnesota African Women’s Association and the Slavic Community Center

Because of CAPI’s success in meeting “MFIP Participation Rates”, Hennepin County has contracted with CAPI to assist 17 other Hennepin County MFIP providers in developing 50+ subsidized wage/employment experiences. CAPI works closely with AccessAbility and Goodwill Easter Seals to create as many as 50 subsidized slots annually.
