Current Opportunities

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have some pressing volunteer needs in our food shelf.  CAPI’s priority is to keep everyone safe during this time, as such volunteers will be provided with gloves, hand sanitizer, and masks when needed. All grocery deliveries are contactless. For information on signing up at the food shelf, contact Kristina Doan, CAPI’s Human Services and Civic Engagement Manager at 612-767-3682.

  • Food shelf volunteers are needed to help box groceries for curbside pick up at CAPI’s IOC in Brooklyn Center
  • Volunteers are needed to deliver groceries to seniors

Hmong Seniors Program

  • Provide assistance and companionship to Hmong Seniors every month
  • Short-term and long-term positions
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Must be Hmong-speaking
  • All volunteers must pass a background check to ensure safety

Volunteer Companion

  • Check in with a Hmong senior at least twice a month; one visit in-person
  • Encourage independent living by helping seniors with simple household chores
  • Reduce isolation for seniors through in-home visits and phone calls
  • Must have access to transportation to and from senior’s home

Events Companion

  • Attend monthly community events with Hmong Seniors
  • Encourage independent living skills for seniors
  • Outings typically occur in the mornings and early afternoons for several hours
  • Must have access to and from events and CAPI’s office in North Minneapolis
