A Journey of Hope:
Emmanuel Animasaun’s Story

Emmanuel speaking at CAPI’s Grand Re-Opening Celebration

My name is Emmanuel Animasaun, and I stand before you today as one of the recipients of what CAPI represents, with a heart full of gratitude—first to God, and then to CAPI, its sponsors, staff, and everyone who continues to support the work being done in our community.

When I came to the United States, I came with the American dream. I was determined to use my background in science to build a career in healthcare, continue my education, establish a business in my chosen field, and, most importantly, become someone who could also give back and be of service to others.

The vision was clear, and the journey started well.

But like many immigrants, I soon experienced some of the challenges that come with starting over in a new country. The road became uncertain. There were obstacles, unfamiliar systems, and times when I did not know where to turn for the right information or resources; my plans were halted, but I knew there was no turning back.

Then, in May 2025, I came across CAPI. For me, that became a turning point.

I want us to remember what these walls represent:

They represent hope.

They represent a place where someone who feels lost can find direction.

A place where someone looking for employment can find opportunity.

A place where an immigrant with a dream can find information and guidance.

A place where a business idea can receive the support needed to grow.

And a place where families can find assistance during difficult seasons.

The impact of your (CAPI’s) work may seem small in the moment, but behind every one of those actions is a person. Behind that person is a family, and behind that family may be a dream waiting for someone to help bring it back to life.

On behalf of myself and my family, I say thank you for believing in people, investing in dreams, strengthening families, restoring hope, and creating pathways for people like me to move from uncertainty to opportunity.

Within a few months, I enrolled in CAPI's Long-Term Care Program, which gave me the opportunity to complete a Nursing Assistant course. Through CAPI's support, I also became certified in Mental Health First Aid, Basic Life Support, and Medical Terminology.

These were more than certificates to me. They were opportunities to start again. They were steppingstones. They were someone saying, "We believe in you, and we are willing to invest in you,” and that investment produced results.

A few months ago, I began working in one of the major healthcare facilities here in Minnesota. The training and support I received through CAPI helped me take that important step toward my career goals.

But my journey did not stop there.

After many years of being unable to continue my education, I shared with CAPI my desire to return to school. Today, I am proud to say that I am back in school, pursuing the next chapter of my education with CAPI's guidance, resources, and support.

Then came another opportunity.

CAPI introduced me to its Business Coaching Program, where I had the opportunity to develop a business idea I had carried for some time. Today, I can proudly say that I have a business entity legally registered in the State of Minnesota, and we are working to take that business to the next level.

One of the greatest challenges immigrants face is not necessarily a lack of ambition or ability. Sometimes, it is simply a lack of access—to information, resources, guidance, and an understanding of how to navigate systems that may be unfamiliar. CAPI helps bridge that gap.

CAPI has also been there for my family during difficult times, helping us meet basic needs whenever circumstances become challenging. For that, my family and I are deeply grateful.
